At Gitche Gumee Excursions safety is our #1 priority. We ask that all customers abide by the rules and listen to the guides at all times. Use of illegal drugs and alcohol will not be tolerated. We want to create a family friendly environment. There are inherent dangers whenever fishing ice so we have all customers wear self inflating life jackets. Our guides know how to read the ice and are very good at determining how safe it is but we still live by the saying that "no ice is safe ice". We will not put our customers lives at risk by going on ice that is questionable. 5" minimum for foot traffic and 8" minimum for ATV or Snowmobile. We check ice several times daily especially on Lake Superior as we know that conditions may deteriorate rapidly. If a guide calls off an excursion mid trip or prior to the trip due to conditions, I will stand by my guides decision.
All guides are trained in first aid and CPR.
All guides carry a cell phone in the event of an emergency.
All customers will wear a self inflating life jacket or approved foatation suit at all times on the water
